(Cur-SEE'-yo) Spanish word meaning "short course" Cursillos de Christianidad is the full title of the movement. This phrase literally means a short course of lectures in Christian living, but it is not intended to simply refer to a course of instruction (lectures). Rather, it means a short running course (such as St. Paul's admonition to run the good race). It is something to experience, not just to understand intellectually, which is implied in thinking of a course of instruction. CHRIST IS COUNTING ON YOU DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN CHRIST For the past few years our Cursillo activity level has been very low. There have been scattered Ultreyas and our Spirit Aflame conference. We have had only 5 candidates in the past few years and they attended their weekend in the Diocese of Eau Claire. We have had no one volunteer for anything, even when asked, no recent candidates applications, no weekends, no phone calls and very few hits on the web site. Our current bishop feels that the Holy Spirit will open up new areas for our growth. Ecclesiastes, chapter 3 comes to mind. Therefore on September 25th, at St George's we will have a 'town meeting', and the members of the Secretariat will listen to any comments or read any comments that you want to send to me. We then plan to offer any and all supplies to whomever needs them. I have notified the TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) communities and the southern TEC has already taken some things that they need. We are giving the file cabinets and many of the office supplies to Patty, the administrative assistant at St George's, as St George's has been very generous with their space and cooperative with our schedules. We have taken a current inventory and it will sent out as requested. Many thanks to all who have prayed for Cursillo, brought candidates, worked on teams, contributed money and other palanca, and answered the countless questions as to 'What does happen on those three days?' Thanks especially to Cara Knittel, Sheila Faricy, and our treasurer, Mary Lou Lamain for years of faithful service and to all those previous council and secretariat members who gave hours and hours of time. Agenda: September 25th, St George's Episcopal Church, 5224 Minnetonka Blvd. St.Louis Park, MN 11:00 a m to 12:00 gather, sing, catch up with friends. 12:00 p m to 12:50 or so, Eucharist 1:00 p m to ?
